Women’s BUCS league update and game length guidance
Good luck to all the teams playing in BUCS Women’s League matches on Saturday 12th November. Fixtures are taking place across all five leagues, involving all teams.
Game Lengths and End-of-Game rules
Due to variations in the number of teams playing at each venue, and the time/space availability, it may be helpful and in everyone’s best interest that game lengths are modified in some leagues. We suggest teams use the following end-of-game rules, but strongly recommend that you discuss and clarify this with each opponent before you start. Ideally all games within each league should be played to the same game length / points target.
Midlands
Play to points target 13. Game length 50 minutes. When time is over, finish the point. Allow draws. Hard cap (i.e. finish possession and stop, even if tied) 60 minutes.
South-Eastern
Play to points target 13. Game length 50 minutes. When time is up, finish the point then reduce points target to the current highest score +1, but never exceed 13. Hard cap (i.e. finish possession and stop, even if tied) 70 minutes.
Western
Play to points target 13. Game length 1 hour. When time is up, finish the point then reduce points target to the current highest score +1, but never exceed 13. No draws. Hard cap (i.e. finish possession and stop, even if tied) 80 minutes.
North
Play to points target 13. Game length 1 hour. When time is up, finish the point then reduce points target to the current highest score +1, but never exceed 13. No draws. Hard cap (i.e. finish possession and stop, even if tied) 80 minutes.
Scotland
As per the default for BUCS league games, play to points target 15. Game length 70 minutes. When time is up, finish the point then reduce points target to the current highest score +1, but never exceed 15. Hard cap (i.e. finish possession and stop, even if tied) 90 minutes.
