Women’s Committee
The UKU Women’s Committee work on a range of projects that will be collated on the committee’s microsite. The women’s committee aim to produce resources and tools to help with different areas of need. For example, take a look at this article on how to run a geo-based Ultimate event.
The Women’s Committee is primarily set up to champion the interests of all women* in the UK Ultimate community and is governed by its Terms of Reference. The Women’s Committee aims to create, maintain and monitor a simple development plan for women’s Ultimate which should:
Support continuous and long term growth in the number of women playing Ultimate in the UK, focussing on both recruitment and also retention.
Support number and breadth of playing opportunities for women playing Ultimate in the UK.
Support and promote projects that raise the standard of play and competition to improve GB and UK clubs’ success rates in international Women’s and Mixed competition.
State priorities for the current year, and is realistic about limited resources that are available to the group.
Be aligned with the UKU Strategic Plan.
Recognise the diversity of participants and potential participants
Support links between schools and colleges, universities and clubs to increase the number of players that become long-term members of Ultimate clubs once they have left education.
Liaise with the other relevant UKU committees and Tournament Directors to develop and promote women’s participation at all levels.
Provide a source of women’s-focussed feedback and ideas relating to the work of other UKU committees.
Recruit volunteers to support and run committee projects, noting that those volunteers do not in general become members of the committee itself.
*here we use women to include everyone who plays in the women’s division or who would play for a women’s roster spot in the mixed division
